Athletics Day
On Tuesday the 19th November it was the annual athletics day. The activities that counted in as sports were sprints, relays, high jump, shot put, and long jump. The activities that were just to have fun were fun throws, tennis, fun relays, and team building (see the photos above). At the team building there was a game. This is what the game was like. There was a polluted water full of rubbish. You couldn't touch the ground and there was only one way to get to the other side. It was using lily pads to get to the other side. The teacher put us into groups of four and then we started. The leader had to drop one lily pad onto the ground and jump onto it and still couldn't touch the ground. The next person had to go onto that lily pad and then the leader threw another one and then the next person went and then it kept on going round and round again untill you get to the other side.

Corban Estate Art Centre
Yesterday the whole middle school went to the Corban Estate Art Center to look at the Pasifika Mamas. When we went in there, there was a man and three ladies. The ladies were wearing flower leis in their hair. The man was wearing an orange shirt. The ladies were the Pasifika Mamas. Then we sang a song. After that we went out on the deck and got our morning tea out of our bags and ate on the deck. When we finished eating, we were split into groups. My group made leis first. Mama Mata told us the pattern we had to do. It was flower, straw, flower, straw, flower, straw. We thought who we were making the lei for and what colours they liked. After that we started making it. When we were done we had to ask an adult to tie our leis up. When everybody was done making there leis we took a photo. After that we switched around groups. The next group was drumming. We had to do a challenge of boys vs girls. There were two kinds of drums. One was called a skin drum and one was called a log drum. We each had a turn on the drums. After that the whole middle school had a session together. It was boys dance and girls dance. After the dance we said bye in Fijian when we were leaving.

Cultural People
Last term me and my class painted cultural people. Our one are the boy in the photo on the left and the girl in the top photo in pink. Then our school builder Dave put these up on the wall but just this Monday. It was our school's first time singing our school song out in the community. We sang. After that there were pieces of fabric covering the cultural people. The teachers decided the students to go up and pull down the piece of fabric. When the principal called out the students from our class they went up and pulled down the fabric. Then everybody clapped and that happened to all of the other paintings.
